Homage opened last week at Rio Gallery in Salt Lake City, a group of 30 artists chose an artist who had influenced them and made a piece to pay tribute to that artist. The show looks amazing, some of my favorite local artists are in this show so I was very excited to be a part of it. I chose to honor Josef Mueller Brockman, who was a Swiss graphic designer who started working in the 1940's and continued working throughout the rest of his life. He was a fan and avid user of grid systems and made a lot of posters that I find absolutely amazing. He used simple shapes and colors to create awesome posters, some of my favorites were made when he worked for the Zurich symphony. The large piece in the picture is name Gridlocked in honor of Brockman. If you are in Salt Lake this month please check this show out!
